Mindful Parenting

Mindful parenting is based on the principles of mindfulness. Focusing on the significance of wholeheartedly embracing the present moment when interacting with our children. It encourages parents to engage with openness, free from judgement, and with a profound sense of awareness in every interaction. Through the practice of mindful parenting, we have the ability to foster an environment that allows our children to experience being acknowledged, listened to, and truly understood.
1. Being Present


We can start by simple practices, like engaging in meaningful conversations during meal time or during the journey back home from school. During playtime, being fully present with our children means putting away distractions (eg. phones) and embracing the joy of the moment. This becomes an essential aspect of mindful parenting.

Set a “Family Digital Detox Time”, by designating a screen-free time for the family to engage in fun activities together.

Self-awareness includes being aware of one’s thoughts, emotions, and actions. Practising self-awareness involves regularly reflecting on your experiences and emotions, and acknowledging them. When we acknowledge our negative feelings, we also teach children that it’s okay to have such emotions. Promoting self-compassion for parents recognizes that, similar to their children, parents are continuously on a journey of learning and growth.
